I’ve lived in the Midwest for most of my life and it still surprises me sometimes at how I haven’t explored some places yet. Saint Louis isn’t very far and yet this weekend was the first time I got to visit. I was able to surprise the BF 100%. He had no idea where we were going or what we were doing (let alone that I had planned on meeting up with some of his family). It was a great weekend with perfect spring weather.
Saint Louis is known for its arch, its blues, and the Cardinals. Although it’s still spring training we still got to see some games on TV. Kansas City blacks out the Cards spring training here… something about having two teams in the same state makes people a little crazy. We spent some time by the mighty Mississippi River and the Arch. We actually stayed just a couple blocks from the arch so we were able to see it in all it’s shiny glory (and almost everything was within walking distance). Now the blues in this town is of a caliber you have to see to believe. Absolutely amazing shows in the small dive bar we found on our first night in town. I can’t wait to go back.
Overall the trip was grand but, as always, the company was the best part. Sharing good times with good people makes everything better. I’ve been blessed with such great people in my life (both my family and his). Spending time together with the BF always makes separating harder but it also makes us stronger.
Happy birthday to my favoritest Mama ever. I can’t imagine plotting evil things without you. 🙂
I love camping. It rejuvenates me. Last year for my birthday the hubs bought me a fire pit to use while camping. It was a great gift however then the truck that I would need to haul all of my gear along with the big fire pit decided it wanted a transmission. So no camping with the fire pit for me. Good thing all of the rest if my gear fits nicely into my car.
Well, it is finally a nice enough day to assemble the pit and get rid of some of this wood we have laying around. It’s not fire wood in the typical sense. It’s not cut nicely. It’s not even logs really. It’s more simply the pieces that our trees prune off themselves. Yah, we have self-pruning trees. We’re cool like that. A storm rolls in and poof! Firewood laying all around. So today I’m trying to use some of that free wood to, of course, make room for more self-pruning.
It is indeed my birthday and for this special day I get to work… all day. Oh! And study for a test I have to take tomorrow and really know almost nothing on said test. So with that I leave you with comic funnies.
Today is Hubby’s birthday. If it is anything like the last two years he will be working hard (not different from the other 365 days of the year) and probably find himself taking a tow to Junction City. On this day for the last two years he has done this. Not on purpose mind you but it just works out that way. It’s not a short trip either.
So what did his super wife pack for him today? Fresh baked cookies wrapped all pretty. Oh and to make sure they didn’t die a crumbly death I put them in a paper coffee cup to protect their tender goodness.
I’m planning on his favorite dinner tonight and a road trip is set for Sunday. We will be going out to a couple of small towns in beautiful central Kansas. I love exploring the country. 🙂
Happy birthday to the hardest working man I know!
Happy birthday Momma! I love you! And just remember that your cubicle shaped hell isn’t for much longer!!!
My mom’s birthday is in about two weeks and I got her an experience for her gift! It’s ok Mom does read my blog but her experience is in a few days and she already knows about it (not to mention that it takes her a while to catch up on all of my bloggy stuff… Love ya Mom!).
What kind of experience does one get for ones mother?
Yup, I got her elephants!
Well not elephants exactly so much as a trip to the circus. She hasn’t gone since she was little and the only one that I remember going to my dad was in charge of cleaning up “packy-poo”. If you have to ask you don’t want to know… but see the pic above for an idea.
Ok, truth be told she’s not the only one excited to go see the Greatest Show On Earth. I did a happy dance in my car when I saw the circus train on the tracks today. We’re going on Saturday. It’s going to be a very long Friday at work I can already see it. More excited for the circus than for Christmas.
